THE STORY OF HOW DAVID TURNED THE IDEA OF KIDS IN MOTION INTO A REALITY

In 1979 I met my first gymnastics coach, Tom Holt. A tall European man who taught in Ugg boots. His heart, compassion and knowledge about movement had such an effect on me at the age of 9, that I knew right then and there I wanted to be a coach who cares!

I live to inspire and empower children in the same way my fist coach did for me and this is what has made me jump out of bed every morning for the past 35 years.

After teaching Gymnastics in Melbourne, Circus in Bali, Flying trapeze in Malaysia and Kung Fu in Los Angeles … I came home and formed Kids in Motion in 1997.

The program was developed to help fast-track children’s learning and build their confidence through movement.

I believe every child should have the opportunity to learn the foundational skills of movement despite their age, shape or size.

In 2011 we established a purpose-built facility to home our unique program; the likes of which the community had never seen before.

Unlike a traditional gymnastic centre, our studio would not be set up for advanced skills and competition … but for invoking the spirit of adventure and the art of movement.

At Kids in Motion, we are not concerned with being the biggest studio or the business with the most franchises.

We live to be the best at what we do!

EXCELLENCE

Setting a standard of performance across everything we do and only undertaking something if we can attain the same high standard of excellence.

EMPOWERMENT

Empowering both the kids that we teach and the coaches we train…to believe in themselves and to expect more of themselves.

Empowering them by showing them that true gratification and happiness comes not from intrinsic rewards like competitions and medals but from a “sense of achievement”.

Teaching them that they should not compare themselves to others but be the best that they can be.

By empowering and inspiring children we teach them to step out of their comfort zone, to try something new and be someone who willgive things a go…to be participants in life, not spectators”.

OUR CORE VALUES

The 3 E’s

ALL OUR ACTIONS AND ALL OUR DECISIONS SHOULD BE RUN THROUGH THE FILTER OF OUR 3 CORE VALUES…THE ACTIONS WE TAKE, THE CHOICE OF PROGRAMS WE RUN, THE MODIFICATION TO THE PROGRAMS, THE CHOICE OF TAKING ON NEW OPPORTUNITIES…AND ON AND ON…

EMPATHY

Making sure the “care factor” is there in everything we do, the lives we impact, how we support and teach our kids and how we support and care for our team.

To put ourselves in the shoes of others when making decisions and doing all we can to care about the mission we are on, the lives we impact, the experience of our clients and the communities we influence.
